Radiesse is an injectable filler, designed to give long-lasting results. Wrinkle reduction lasting over two years has been seen in some trials. It is completely biocompatible, non-allergenic, and non-toxic, so there is no allergy testing required before treatment.

Radiesse is an advanced composite of calcium hydroxylapatite and methylcellulose. Calcium hydroxylapatite is a mineral found in your bones and teeth, and has been used for decades as a hard-tissue filler for bones. When its high biocompatibility was seen, the soft-tissue filler was developed.  The mineral resists absorption by the body, so stays in place as a framework for collagen production.  The collagen then replaces the methylcellulose.  Methylcellulose is a common food thickener, completely harmless and used only as a carrier for the mineral filler.

The procedure

Recovery
You will see swelling that generally subsides in one to two days, although it can last for a week. There should be minimal pain, if any. You can get back to most of your normal activities right away.
