Who are the best candidates for liposuction?
The best candidates for body contouring at Face Beautiful:
- Have firm, elastic skin
- Are in good health
- Have tried to eliminate bulges through diet, exercise, and weight loss
- Have distinct areas of localized fat that are disproportionate to the rest of their bodies
- Have realistic expectations and are only slightly to moderately overweight
- Understand that liposuction is not a substitute for weight loss
How are the benefits of liposuction measured?
Your Face Beautiful doctor will let you know how many “inches” you’ve lost following your procedure. Actual weight is less important in assessing results than inches lost.
Is fat removal permanent?
Yes, once your fat cells are removed, they will not “regrow.” As adults we keep a consistent number of fat cells in our bodies; when we gain or lose weight, those fat cells swell or shrink in accordance. When whole fat cells are removed with liposuction, you are left with fewer overall fat cells for life! Diet and exercise are needed to maintain your results and keep your remaining fat cells from expanding.
How will my skin look after surgery?
The quality of your skin and laxity will remain the same. However, the treated areas will be smaller due to the reduction in fat cells.
Liposuction does not improve features such as dimples and stretch marks. Patients having small volumes of fat removed will probably not need to worry about having excess skin as the tissues should adjust to the size change naturally.
Will liposuction get rid of my cellulite?
We do not recommend liposuction as a treatment to make cellulite disappear specifically. However, many Face Beautiful patients do notice that their treated areas have the appearance of less cellulite.
